Types of Members
SEANES is made up of ASEAN federated and non-federated Ergonomics Societies and Human Factors/Ergonomics Interest Groups in South East Asia.
Federated Societies have the main objective of promoting scientific and professional development as well as the application of ergonomics in their countries and are legally constituted and regulated by statute. They elect their Council representatively and have been recognized by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) as federated members.
Non-federated Societies have the main objective of promoting ergonomics in their countries, and have been legally constituted and regulated by statute. They elect their Council representatively but have not been recognized by the International Ergonomics Association as federated members.
The Human Factors/Ergonomics Interest Groups have the main objective of conducting activities in the field of Human Factors and Ergonomics, but have not been legally constituted and regulated as a society.
Initiatives for promoting Human Factors/Ergonomics in ASEAN countries through SEANES may be undertaken provided that Societies/Interest Groups in any ASEAN country may be regarded as potential non-federated Societies of SEANES and such non-members can participate as observers by invitation, with the right to speak but not to vote.
